The Principles of Intuitive Eating

The Principles of Intuitive Eating

We’ve talked about intuitive eating in the past (check out our hunger scale!) but never fully dove into all 10 principles — until now. Intuitive Eating was coined by Evelyn Tribole, MS, RD, and Elyse Resch, MS, RDN, CEDRD, Fiaedp, FADA, FAND, after their clients expressed concerns about the diet plans they had been given in the past. Eager to learn more about how we instinctively eat and to improve their clients’ relationship with food, the founders developed and began teaching 10 principles for intuitive eating.

Hopefully these 10 principles make intuitive eating a little less mysterious and a little more practical. These principles can help improve your relationship with food so you spend less time thinking about eating and more time engaging in meaningful life experiences.

This blog post includes contributions from Liz Sanders, MPH, RD.

Foods to help burn fat & improve digestion

Remember the old saying:  You are what you eat. And if you eat a lot of fatty foods, guess what? You’ll put on the pounds… by eating the wrong fats. But if you add the following 11 foods to your diet right now, 2018 will shape up to be a much slimmer year.

What makes those specific fruits and veggies the best?

Researchers say it’s their extremely high fiber content that can help you feel full for longer and improve your digestion.

In addition, those foods have a lower glycemic load. This means they won’t cause your blood sugar to spike as much as other foods.

Add in their low calorie content, and it’s easy to see why that list can put you on the right track to burning stubborn fat.

8 Ways to stay fit at a desk job

We are constantly under pressure to meet deadlines and end up stuck at our desk, even through lunch and breaks. What does that do to our bodies when we live a sedentary life?

As I state in my nutrition book, “Healthy Lifestyle the inside secrets to transforming your body and health”; you should always be moving. Of course, as with any job, school or anything we do- that simply is not possible. However, you can incorporate baby steps toward NEAT exercises, which stands for Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenesis.

The following is a list of NEAT exercises you could add to your daily routine to help alleviate stress while burning additional calories- Check out my latest article in Chicz Magazine- Echo Press:
